Progress on aligning incentives and information to tackle our common challenge of climate change by joining the visible hand of government policy with the invisible hand of capital markets has been variable. Recently, however, evidence has been seen that a premium in climate investment is emerging.
During the AGI Public Policy Seminar on September 11, 2023, Dr Ben Meng from Franklin Templeton provided valuable insights on addressing climate change through the capital channel, emphasizing that the financial resources required for climate adaptation are so vast that traditional methods such as donations or public sector funding may not suffice. Instead, Dr Meng advocates for leveraging the tremendous potential of the capital market to effectively tackle this critical issue.
